i used to live in fort walton beach and i would recommend the best western i believe that is across the street from some condos but not to far from oakaloosa islands beachs or the national park beaches acrossed from walmart i hope you enjoy ur stay im jealous lol
There are a lot of options. First off all the Hotels in Destin will be safe. There is virtually no crime. The cleanest hotel would be the Embassy Suites. It is newer, the staff is amazing, and it is just accross the street from the beach. I would be sure to avoid the Ramada. It has been getting bad reviews recently. For more hotel details and the lowest rates visit. For scattering the ashes I may take a trip out of town and visit the beaches of South Walton. It is just 10 minutes to the East. It is much calmer and peaceful out there. I would suggest checking out Grayton State Park. There is a Dune Lake just a few yards of the beach that flows into the Gulf of Mexico.
